Overview
Specialist Biomedical Scientist, Haematology and Transfusion, rotating across the haematology and transfusion sections and across sites, based at Southend University Hospital with flexibility to work at the Basildon Hub site.
Responsibilities
* Provide Specialist Biomedical Scientist expertise in Haematology and Transfusion within the Blood Sciences team.
* Rotate across sites to support both haematology and transfusion services, including urgent testing for acute admissions and inpatients.
* Contribute to a high-throughput service, handling a large volume of samples (e.g., FBC, coagulation, and transfusion samples) and working with the department"s IT platform (Clinisys WinPath Enterprise).
* Operate within a laboratory equipped with Werfen ACL-TOPs, Beckman Coulter DXHs, Ortho Visions, and Bio-Rad D100s, adhering to quality and safety standards.
* Support the hospital transfusion service including service delivery across the Basildon and Southend sites and collaboration with the cardiothoracic centre and oncology/hema-oncology workloads.

Qualifications
* IBMS Specialist Diploma in Haematology with Hospital Transfusion Practice, or in Haematology only with separate BBTS certificate, or equivalent specialist qualifications
* HCPC registered as a Biomedical Scientist
Skills
* Specialist knowledge of Haematology and Transfusion techniques and practices
* Able to work with high accuracy, numeracy, interpretive skills, and good problem-solving abilities
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience of industry standard laboratory information management systems
