We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected manufacturing client based in Mildenhall, Suffolk. The Welding Assembly Area Supervisor is responsible for managing and coordinating welding and assembly operations to ensure efficient production, high-quality output, and adherence to safety standards. This role involves supervising a team of welders and assemblers, monitoring workflows, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
* Team Supervision: Lead, train, and motivate a team of welders, assemblers, and support staff, ensuring effective collaboration and performance.
* Production Oversight: Plan, schedule, and monitor welding and assembly activities to meet production goals and quality standards.
* Quality Control: Inspect welds and assembled components to ensure they meet engineering specifications, industry standards, and company quality requirements.
* Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a safe work environment
* Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in welding and assembly processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
* Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and proper operation of welding equipment, tools, and machinery to minimize downtime.
* Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory of materials, tools, and supplies required for welding and assembly tasks.
* Reporting & Documentation: Maintain production records, prepare reports on output, quality, and safety metrics, and communicate progress to management.
* Problem Resolution: Address and resolve production issues, equipment malfunctions, or personnel conflicts promptly to maintain workflow.
* Training & Development: Conduct training sessions for new hires and ongoing skill development for team members in welding techniques and assembly processes.
* Staff appraisal: Evaluate employee performance, set goals, and provide constructive feedback.
Experience & Skills Required:
* Strong knowledge of welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, ARC) and assembly processes.
* Leadership and team management skills.
* Proficiency in reading technical drawings, and specifications.
* Familiarity with quality control standards and safety regulations.
* Problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
