Job Summary
Manages teams responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of projects and programs. The Director, PMO serves as the primary client contact and escalation point for staffing, bandwidth or delivery issues, and may assist in assigning resources to projects/programs.
Responsibilities
* Lead cross-functional projects and programs end-to-end using a formal PMO process, facilitating the development of a program charter and integrated timeline.
* Accountable for ensuring all functions remain on schedule, issues get escalated and resolved, and the program is completed successfully.
* Facilitate regular meetings to review project status for active and pending projects, collaborate with the core team to develop solutions, and lead projects through implementation and completion.
* Report status of individual and groups of projects and programs, providing appropriate levels of detail and succinct summaries of complex issues.
* Manage internal and external relationships in support of programs, including contracting and managing vendors.
* Provide consultation on complex large‑scale projects that integrate into an organized program.
* Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
* Manage planning, organization, and controls for a major functional area or department, including a mix of direct and matrix reports.
* Approve subordinate recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action, and termination.
* Monitor staffing levels and report on utilization and deployment of human resources.
* Lead and support staff in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, performance measurement, appraisal, and reward.
* Model behaviors consistent with the company’s values.
Education and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from a 4‑year college or university.
* Minimum eight years of related experience, including at least four years of leadership support experience.
Certificates and/or Licenses
* PgMP (Program Management Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional) certifications preferred.
Communication Skills
* Comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents.
* Respond effectively to sensitive issues, write reports, manuals, speeches, and articles, and make persuasive presentations to employees, clients, top management, and public groups.
* Motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.
Financial Knowledge
* In-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles, including review of complex financial/business analysis and reports.
* Analyze complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions.
* Develop and implement financial policies and procedures, and oversee department budget.
Reasoning Ability
* Solve advanced problems and make decisions in complex situations using expert level analytical and quantitative skills.
* Develop strategic solutions for a growing matrix‑based multi‑industry sales environment and make recommendations that directly impact the company.
Other Skills and Abilities
* Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project.
* High level of problem solving skills in ambiguous environments and strong sense of urgency.
* Strong sense of accountability and ownership.
