As Studio Technician you will be HL's in-house expert, responsible for the day-to-day running of the studio. With the knowledge to operate the studio and deliver multiple assets, you will be contributing to the wider business goals of the Marketing team. Your technical and creative expertise will provide the backbone for high-quality broadcast, recording and post-production.
What you'll be doing
Equipment Setup and Maintenance
Preparing studios for recording or broadcasting sessions by setting up microphones, cameras, lighting, and other essential equipment.
Ensuring all equipment is in optimal working condition, diagnosing and repairing minor faults as necessary.
Calibrating audio and video equipment to meet the studio's specifications and industry standards.
Keeping inventory of all studio equipment and arranging for regular maintenance and upgrades.
Assisting with lighting, camera, audio gear setup, props, and equipment breakdown.
Organising digital assets, backup files, maintain production databases, and liaise with vendors.
Project Management
Managing multiple video projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
Coordinating with internal teams and external contributors (e.g., presenters, subject matter experts)
Technical Support
Operating audio mixing consoles, video switchers, lighting desks, and other control systems during live broadcasts or recordings.
Assisting producers, directors and presenters with technical requirements, such as adjusting sound levels or camera angles.
Troubleshooting real-time problems to ensure uninterrupted sessions and maintaining broadcast quality.
Monitoring audio and video feeds for clarity, consistency, and fidelity throughout sessions.
Collaboration and Communication
Liaising with other technical staff, producers, directors, and talent to coordinate studio activities.
Translating creative requirements into technical solutions, bridging the gap between vision and execution.
Quality Assurance
Maintaining and operating video production equipment and studio facilities.
Ensuring safe and efficient use of resources during shoots.
Post-Production Tasks
Editing Studio content that has been filmed.
Co-ordinating edits to meet marketing deadlines
Uploading assets for stakeholder reviews / feedback, reporting daily to the Studio Manager.
Looking after and maintaining the editing equipment
About you
Proven experience in all forms of video production, including: Technical / operating knowledge
Hardware - Remote cameras, audio, lighting and footage capture systems and microphones
Software - Adobe suite, Vmix, X32, Daslights. This person will be filming live broadcasts, marketing content and podcast. The Studio manager will produce the shoots and co-ordinate the contributors
Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
Experience of supporting creation of basic graphics, titles, and motion assets (e.g. After Effects, Premiere templates).
Knowledge of broadcast and recording standards, such as sample rates, bit depth, and video resolutions.
AI - Production workflow experience.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in financial services or regulated industries.
Familiarity with studio equipment and multi-camera setups.
Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive content creation.
Creative and detail-oriented approach, backed with proven experience.
Calm under pressure and adaptable to changing priorities.
Strong communicator with a client-focused mindset.
Passionate about delivering high-quality, impactful content.
Working schedule
This role is based in our Bristol head office (BS1 5HL) and we offer a hybrid working pattern, with a minimum of two days in the office per week.
