We are looking for a motivated 2-session general practitioner to become part of our friendly, excellent team. We welcome all applications from experienced and newly qualified GPs.


Main duties of the job

Undertaking the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within Primary Care.


About us

We have a hard-working, friendly, and dedicated team of 4 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, various Registrars, 1 ANP, a highly skilled nursing team, and outstanding administrative support teams. We run a total triage appointment system triaged by the duty doctor. Our dispensing practice serves over 10,500 patients across two sites.

All staff members at the practice are supported by the Partners and the Practice Managers. We are a training practice rated outstanding by CQC. We are members of the A1 Network PCN and run NHS Community Dermatology, Lymphoedema, and Vasectomy clinics for the ICB.


Job responsibilities

Key clinical responsibilities

Undertaking the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care including but not limited to:

* Patient consultations (in person, video calls, telephone calls, home visits).
* Making professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems (self-referred by the patient or referred by others in the practice).
* Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems.
* Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Managing patients with long-term conditions and developing care plans.
* Referring to other care providers as appropriate.
* Attending to emergencies in the practice.
* Prescribing (both acute and repeat) in accordance with local and national guidelines.
* Checking and signing repeat prescriptions/queries.
* Checking patient medical test results and acting as appropriate.
* Completing patient medical reports and examinations as required.
* Recording clear and contemporaneous notes to professional standards.
* Performing supporting paperwork and administrative work.
* Supporting other practice clinicians in their queries.
* Conducting audits of patient care and outcomes, collecting data, and complying with national requirements.
* Representing the practice in PCN or other local meetings if required.
* Using relevant IT systems including EMISWeb.
* Balancing patient care and time management effectively to ensure efficient service delivery.
* Treating all patients with respect, dignity, warmth, and empathy to ensure a positive experience.
* Managing the demanding primary care workload to ensure timely and effective care for the entire patient population.
* Contributing to team working safely and effectively.
* Identifying issues and working with practice management to develop high standards of quality and performance.
* Ensuring proper handover during planned absences and maintaining up-to-date work records for unplanned absences.
* Working according to practice timetable/rota as agreed with the Management Team.
* Providing a full range of medical services as defined in the GMS contracts and additional/enhanced services where appropriate.


Statutory and practice requirements

* Remaining compliant with practice policies/guidelines including Data Protection, Confidentiality, Health & Safety, and clinical guidelines.
* Adhering to practice protocols for complaints, infection control, holiday bookings, absence reporting, and referrals management.
* Maintaining confidentiality and respecting patient privacy at all times.
* Following Health & Safety policies and completing relevant training.
* Supporting equality, diversity, and rights of patients and colleagues.
* Reporting clinical governance issues and significant events.
* Maintaining current CPR, BLS, and Anaphylaxis certifications.
* Periodic adjustments to responsibilities by the management team.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Medical degree, MRCGP, full GMC registration, and eligibility to practice in the UK independently.
* Full UK driving license.
* Enhanced DBS check required.


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A DBS check will be required to check for any criminal convictions.

Depending on experience and desired level of responsibility.
