Overview A nationally recognised infrastructure consultancy is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of ground investigation projects across major UK infrastructure sectors. This is a senior leadership role responsible for project performance, technical delivery, client development, and team management. The role is ideal for someone with a strong geotechnical background, solid commercial acumen, and experience managing teams and complex GI contracts. Key Responsibilities Project Delivery & Operations Plan, supervise, and programme ground investigation projects from award to completion Oversee technical execution, reporting, and H&S compliance on all active sites Manage project finances including forecasting, invoicing, and commercial reporting Coordinate site engineers, technicians, and subcontractors Ensure timely and profitable delivery across small to £1M GI packages Support proposal preparation, tender scoping, and client presentations Lead the development of operational processes to improve delivery efficiency Business Development Develop new client relationships and support expansion of frameworks Contribute to marketing campaigns and repeat business generation Attend client meetings, tender interviews, and industry events Maintain and grow goodwill across key commercial relationships People & Team Management Manage a team of geotechnical staff, including appraisals and development plans Support with the recruitment, mentoring, and retention of project staff Promote high standards of Health & Safety, ensuring full compliance across teams Assist with disciplinary, grievance, and H&S matters as required Support junior staff with Chartership/CPD and technical upskilling Requirements Degree-qualified in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or related field Minimum 8 years’ industry experience, with at least 3 years in project management Strong understanding of GI specifications, British Standards, and testing methods Experience delivering multi-site or high-value GI projects Financially literate with experience in budget forecasting and commercial control Familiar with ICE/NCE contracts and contract administration Knowledge of geotechnical and geoenvironmental lab testing procedures Competent with MS Office and GI software (e.g., logging/reporting tools) CSCS Manager-level, SMSTS, CDM awareness (preferred) Full UK Driving Licence
