Band 6 Occupational Therapy – Permanent full time (37.5 hrs per week, 9‑5 Monday to Friday) – Site: Oleaster, Magnolia Town, Birmingham. Salary: £39,959 – £48,117 per annum (pro rata).
Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to work within our Male Assertive Outreach inpatient unit – Magnolia ward, Oleaster.
You will be based on Magnolia ward and work as a key member of the team, managing, developing and delivering occupational therapy provision to the ward caseload. Your focus will be on occupational performance, complex mental health presentations, risk management and evaluating outcomes aligned to personalised care plans. You will implement and facilitate individual and group programmes of clinical intervention in collaboration with Occupational Therapy assistants, activity workers and other professionals for effective recovery and discharge.
Main duties
You will be expected to:
* Lead and support the day‑to‑day decision making on the ward, including supervision and quality initiatives.
* Facilitate and take forward service developments that support the trust strategy.
* Provide specialist functional assessments and interventions, primarily using the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO).
* Work flexibly with the wider occupational therapy service, allowing for cross‑cover as required.
* Co‑operate closely with the band 7 Occupational Therapist, Ward Manager, Matron, Lead Occupational Therapist for Acute and Urgent Care and other relevant professionals.
Person specification
* Registration: UK professional registration as an Occupational Therapist.
* Leadership: Experience leading and supporting multidisciplinary teams.
* Mental Health experience: Proven experience within a mental health setting and awareness of risk management.
* Sensory Practice: Ability to integrate sensory-based interventions.
* Group work: Skilled in facilitating group interventions.
* MOHO Assessments: Proficiency in using MOHO assessments.
