Job Description
The Electroplating Technician is responsible, through the Plating Shop & Surface Finish Manager to the Operations Manager, for:
* The chemical processing of aircraft components and their sub-assemblies to support maintenance across various platforms and programmes.
* Periodic, lot testing, and solution analyses as specified in customer requirements and detailed process instructions (DPIs).
Responsibilities
* Carry out chemical processing operations, including Nital Etch Inspection, using current authorized procedures and within their qualifications and competencies.
* Perform periodic, lot testing, and solution analyses adhering to authorized procedures.
* Contribute to team targets and goals.
* Comply with Tool Control Procedures as per relevant ABM procedures.
* Participate in team meetings and carry out ABC reviews.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.
* Undertake cross-training to maintain flexibility and support team output.
* Perform work to the highest level of competence and support team members through training and mentoring.
* Ensure work areas are kept clean and debris-free.
* Maintain up-to-date continuation training and read/sign training packs.
* Adhere to Quality, Safety, Environmental Management Systems, and related business manuals.
Authorities
* Authorized to perform chemical processing, testing, and analyses for which they are competent, as recorded in their training records.
* Cat B Stamp Holders may self-certify and certify certain operations within their approval codes.
* Authorized to operate the Effluent Treatment Plant if trained and competent.
Job Requirements
Education and Training
* Trainee Plater training
* Institute of Metal Finishing Chemical Process Training
* Knowledge of continuous process improvement tools and procedures
* Training in non-conformance root cause analysis and corrective actions
Technical Skills
Must interpret work orders, standards, and DPIs relevant to chemical processing. Desirable: hold a Cat B Stamp with appropriate competencies and approval codes, and be capable of analyzing performance data related to chemical processing.
