About The Role
We’re seeking a skilled and dedicated Craftsperson to join our National Gas Services (NGS) team. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in supporting the team by proactively contributing to broader initiatives and workloads that ensure our business objectives are met.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Assisting NGS Technicians in preparing materials and equipment for transportation to job sites.
* Supporting a range of specialist techniques to deliver safe and efficient outcomes for internal and external customers.
* Maintaining tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure they are safe, tested, calibrated, and compliant with legislative requirements.
* Accurately recording time worked, tasks performed, materials used, and hire charges for recharge purposes.
* Participating in the standby rota, providing pipeline emergency repair services (CEME).
* Delivering maintenance tasks on schedule and to the highest standards, ensuring all activities comply with NGS procedures.
* Working onsite 5 days a week, with frequent travel across the operational area and regular overnight stays.
About You
You will be safety‑conscious, mechanically skilled, and eager to contribute to essential operations. You’ll thrive in a hands‑on environment and be confident using computerized systems for accessing critical information and inputting key data. You understand the importance of compliance and high standards in everything you do.
Key Requirements & Experience
* Relevant experience in operational maintenance or repair work within a mechanical engineering background.
* Practical experience with pressure systems above 7 Bar (highly advantageous).
* Solid understanding of Transmission or Distribution Networks and pipeline/pressure system safety.
* Ability to use computerised systems for data input and information access.
* Detailed understanding of applicable regulations and standards, plus working knowledge of company procedures.
* Ideally, hands‑on experience in one or more of the following:
o Under‑pressure drilling
o Flow stopping
o In‑line service inspection
o Pipe fitting
o Pressure system inspections
o Damage assessments
* Willingness to travel frequently and stay overnight as required.
* Full UK car driving licence
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and trade control restrictions.
