Role Purpose
Are you a seasoned Engineering Leader with a strong Mechanical background in the water and wastewater sector? Due to progression within our teams, continued success building on our existing framework agreements and a confident growth plan in AMP 8 and AMP 9 across all 10 major water and wastewater companies in England and Wales, we are seeking a driven, confident, innovative professional to lead and develop our mechanically biased design team, and support other engineering discipline managers, in the delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
Role Description
Join our dynamic and growing team as an Engineering Design Team Lead (Mechanical), with a passion for engineering sustainable assets which our valued customers are proud to own and operate. In this role, you'll lead, expand and develop a diverse team of mechanically biased design engineers to ensure all design deliverables are planned and delivered as required by the project. Your expertise will shape innovative and sustainable engineering solutions, coordinate and direct resources where needed, mentor junior staff, develop our existing capability and influence key project decisions, all while collaborating with a wider supportive, forward-thinking team of 40+ engineers.
The Role
* Lead, develop, and grow our mechanically biased design team to meet the needs of our expanding workload and capability.
* Oversee project delivery from outline scope, detailed design and fabrication level design phases, whilst offering construction and installation support.
* Support the development of detailed specifications for survey requirements, equipment, systems and interfaces between disciplines, ensuring they meet client requirements and industry standards.
* Ensure all design deliverables are assigned, planned, and delivered as required by the business and contract.
* Innovate, challenge, and consider continuous improvement across projects and designs.
* Support the addressing of challenges encountered across our teams, bringing your unique experience to assist in defining solutions.
* Liaison with other discipline leads, project managers and commercial teams.
* Attend site, both during and after projects to offer your knowledge and experience, and to receive feedback from our valued teams and clients.
* Develop and build strong customer and supply chain relationships.
Location
Bath (Midsomer Norton Head Office).
Work Arrangement
Hybrid working could be considered based on location, however, working from our office for a minimum of 3 days per week.
Requirements
* Very strong Mechanical design engineering experience on small to medium-sized projects.
* Experience working in the UK Water and/or Waste Water industries, or similar engineering schemes.
* Managing, developing and coaching multi-disciplined design teams.
* CAD based design systems, structural analysis, CDE systems, and planning tools.
* Design project management and financial reporting.
* Working from project specifications, statements of need, own developed scopes and legislation.
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in Civil and/or Mechanical Engineering.
