East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is committed to keeping our communities safer, and we need exceptional people to help us do that. Our Service is undergoing a significant period of change designed to improve efficiency, further empower managers and allow us to better support the communities we serve. We are seeking applications from Firefighters who wish to undertake a job share opportunity at Hove Fire station (one of our City Stations). The proposed start date is Aug 2025. Hove Fire Station is a shift Station- the proposed work pattern for the job share is: 1 tour on/ 1 tour off and employees working this rota are expected to maintain full competency as defined in the FF role map. Salary and annual leave will be pro-rata. To be eligible to apply, you will need to demonstrate that you are a substantive and competent Firefighter in line with the guidance document which is attached to the application process. Please read this guidance carefully and ensure all requirements are adhered to through the application process otherwise you will not be shortlisted for the role. If successful you will be required to train and then provide full cover for Station specialisms and be willing to drive the appliance. Please be advised that this application process is for a job share at Hove Fire Station, and therefore you will not automatically gain access to the wider Firefighter pool. All applicants through this process must evidence that they are maintaining their skills, knowledge and understanding in accordance with the Firefighter Operational Competency Framework (FOCF). The responsibility to ensure this is up to date lies with the applicant and any appeals following shortlisting will not be accepted where this has not been done. Colleagues who are unable to evidence their competency due to exceptional circumstances will have the opportunity to explain the reasons during the application process. If this is not done during the application process, an appeal on this basis will not be accepted.
