The Role
Responsibilities
As an Assistant SEN Officer, you will work alongside experienced SEN Officers to provide administrative support in the coordination and delivery of Special Educational Needs assessments and services. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with the processing of new requests for assessments of Special Educational Needs
* Supporting the maintenance and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
* Liaising with schools, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure appropriate provision is in place
* Providing information and advice to parents/carers regarding SEN entitlements
* Maintaining accurate records and databases
* Attending meetings and taking minutes as required
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in SEN support, with ample training and development opportunities available.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
* A keen interest in Special Educational Needs and a desire to support learners
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers, and external stakeholders
* Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
* Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications
While previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous, it is not essential. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a commitment to supporting children and young people with SEND are the key attributes we are looking for.
