Job Purpose To support the General Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the pub, dining, and accommodation areas, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, team leadership, and smooth operational delivery across all facets of the business Key Responsibilities Operations Support the GM in running daily front-of-house and back-of-house operations. Ensure the smooth coordination between the bar, kitchen, and rooms. Open and close the venue as Duty Manager on a rota basis. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and safety across all areas. Guest Experience Deliver a warm, welcoming environment for all guestswhether dining, drinking, or staying overnight. Deal promptly and professionally with guest enquiries, bookings, and complaints. Ensure standards of service consistently exceed guest expectations. People Management Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of staff. Lead by example, motivating and managing team performance on shift. Support rotas, holiday planning, and shift coverage to ensure optimal staffing levels. Help drive a positive and inclusive team culture. Food & Beverage Maintain quality and consistency in food and drink offerings in line with the company standards. Assist in managing stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships. Uphold licensing laws and health & safety, food hygiene, and allergen regulations. Accommodation Oversight Oversee room bookings and liaise with housekeeping to ensure rooms are guest-ready. Support the maintenance of room standards and guest amenities. Respond to guest feedback and ensure issues are resolved promptly. Finance & Profitability Assist in achieving financial targets including sales, margins, and cost control. Support cashing up, end-of-day procedures, and banking. Contribute ideas to drive revenue across food, drink, and rooms. Marketing & Promotion Help promote offers, events, and experiences in line with the pubs brand. Engage with guests and support the use of social media and review platforms. Person Specification Essential Experience in a supervisory or assistant management role in a similar hospitality setting. Strong knowledge of food and drink service. Confident in team leadership and delivering excellent customer service. Hands-on approach with a can-do attitude. Good organisational and problem-solving skills. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Desirable Knowledge of room operations and hospitality software (e.g., booking systems). Personal Licence holder or willingness to obtain. First Aid trained.
