Overview
An Engineering Skills Coach forms part of the AMRC Training Centre delivery team and is responsible for the teaching and training, coaching and assessment of Engineering Apprenticeships from level 3 through to level 7. In this role, you will develop teaching resources using a variety of active learning strategies to ensure apprentices have a high-quality learning experience, leading to timely achievement of their apprenticeship programme. The Engineering Skills Coach will deliver CPD programmes within their specialist area as agreed with the Forgemaster's workforce. This role is permanently based at Sheffield Forgemasters in their new machining workshop. You will deliver enrichment activities to support apprentices’ professional and personal development and participate in recruitment activities on behalf of the AMRC Training Centre and Sheffield Forgemasters, some of which may occur outside normal working hours.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver highly effective teaching, coaching and assessment for apprentices within Sheffield Forgemasters, using a range of learning approaches and providing timely feedback to support knowledge, skills and behaviours.
* Supervise apprentices completing practical work in the apprentice training area, ensuring they stay on task, work safely and follow H&S regulations.
* Provide high quality information, advice and guidance to apprentices to support personal development and career progression.
* Work with the Sheffield Forgemasters Workshop Manager to ensure apprentices follow an agreed training plan and identify any additional training required to fill skills gaps.
* Undertake tri-partite progress reviews with AMRC TC/Sheffield Forgemasters apprentices and their line managers, focusing on learning and setting targets for further study.
* Monitor active learning and track the Off The Job percentage to ensure AMRC Training Centre compliance.
* Ensure apprentices meet practical end dates and end point assessment deadlines.
* Facilitate delivery of the AMRC Training Centre personal and professional development curriculum, linking learning to the apprenticeship standard.
* Monitor learner progress and identify additional support needs, escalating to the AMRC Training Centre and Sheffield Forgemasters management as required.
* Ensure curriculum assessments meet AMRC Training Centre quality standards and manage OneFile accounts to keep progress up to date.
* Attend monthly standardisation and update meetings with the Workplace Curriculum Manager and AMRC Training Centre training sessions.
* Carry out duties commensurate with the grade and post as directed by the Sheffield Forgemasters Workshop Manager.

Essential criteria
* Minimum Level 3 qualification in engineering (BTEC/NVQ/C&G/HNC) and/or significant relevant experience.
* Teaching and assessing qualifications.
* Significant experience of technical work in a machining (CNC) engineering setting with knowledge of modern machine cutters and methods.
* Experience in offline programming of CNC machinery and use of programme verification software.
* Experience in providing excellent advice, guidance and support to ensure learners succeed.
* Competence in IT use (laptops, tablets, smartphones) and software such as e-learning portfolios, with strong oral and written communication skills.
* Excellent time management and organisational skills with ability to meet priorities, deadlines and KPIs.
* Ability to analyse problems and develop creative solutions with awareness of longer-term implications.
* Ability to produce, organise and deliver assessment resources and related activities.
* Willingness to update and acquire new skills and knowledge.
Desirable criteria
* Knowledge of programming for castings and forgings.
* Experience using CAD/CAM packages to create models and manufacturing drawings.

Salary: £38,249 to £46,735 with potential to progress to £51,039 through outstanding contribution
