We’re Sweco, Europe’s leading design, engineering, environment, and regulatory consultancy. We’re recruiting an Apprentice Civil Engineer to join our Highways team this summer/autumn.
Our highway engineering teams operate across markets including strategic roads, urban interventions, and private developments. Recent projects include York Central, Bradford City Centre, Sheffield TCF, and more. We use the latest design software to deliver innovative solutions prioritizing safety and sustainability.
Role overview:
As an Apprentice Civil Engineer, you will pursue a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering – Design Engineer with Leeds Beckett University. You will spend 80% of your time on project work and 20% studying, gaining experience across all project stages from inception to detail design, supporting disciplines like highways, drainage, and pavements.
Candidate requirements:
* Interest in Civil Engineering with a desire to advance in Highways.
* Willingness to learn, develop, and challenge yourself.
* Good communication skills and ability to produce clear written English.
* 96 UCAS tariff points or equivalent qualifications.
* 3 A levels (A*-C) including Maths or Physical Science OR Level 3 apprenticeship as a Civil Engineering Technician with distinctions in BTEC National Diploma.
* GCSE Grade C/4+ in English and Maths or equivalent.
* Eligibility to work in the UK without restrictions.
* Willingness to be in the office on non-study days.
