Position
We are on the lookout for a driven EC&I Site Technician to join us!
In this role, you will install, maintain, repair and assist commissioning with electrical systems and equipment, using technical knowledge to ensure safety and proper functioning. Your work involves interpreting plans, assembling components, laying wires, fixing faults, and conducting safety checks for electrical plant, machinery, and control panels.
Key activities:
1. All work undertaken to be in line with Ansaldo Nuclear internals quality procedures.
2. Understand and follow work instructions via route cards / jobs sheets / inspection plans /Safe Systems of Work.
3. All work to be completed in line with the Company Health & Safety Policy & Procedures.
4. The assembly and wiring of electrical components within control systems/panels and specialised machinery with associated equipment of varying size and complexity in accordance with supplied drawings /specified drawing dimensions, parts lists, and specifications on and off site. This shall include cable installations and terminations, glanding and termination of paired and multicore cables, Copper, and FO communications cables as necessary.
5. Correct use of hand tools, power tools, crimp tools to industry standards
6. Installation of cable tray, trunking and conduits to an acceptable standard
7. Equipment builds and configuration inspection, LVD electrical safety checks, Earth bond continuity test, point to point wiring checks, Insulation resistance test, Power up, fusing and equipment functionality checks.
8. Assisting commissioning and completion of ITP’s as and when required.
9. Updating issue logs and communicating directly with responsible Site Manager, design, or commissioning engineers to resolve issues identified.
10. Any other equipment specific tests as detailed in the project hardware test specification for the temporary test rigs or customer cubicles.
11. Liaise with personnel internal to the company to ensure that the requirements of all parties are executed in a safe manner and to a high standard.
12. Be reactive to work when required which is electrical and non-electrical based.
13. Working flexibly within the team to ensure that the current and future needs of the business are met.
14. Ensure that they understand and sign onto the relevant safe systems of work associated with the task.
15. Record any problems encountered during the progress of the work and notify their line management of the details in a prompt manner.
16. Keep site and equipment clean and in a safe condition.
17. Carrying out other duties and special projects as required.
Requirements
Educational qualifications: a recognised training scheme or apprenticeship completed as a minimum. Level 3 qualification.
18th Edition Electrical Safety Regulations preferred.
Have experience in carrying out Electrical Installation works.
Understanding of the UK Environmental and Waste Management legislation.
ECS or CSCS card holder.
Desirable skills: MEWP, PASMA.
Able to read and interpret Electrical General Arrangement, Schematic and Wiring Drawings.
Able to work using their own initiative.
Experience wiring control panels and field wiring.
Ability to work within a team or independently.
Self-motivated with the ability to meet set deadlines.
Ability to work and deliver to high level of quality standard.
There may be a requirement for overtime if requested. Flexibility to work shifts if required by the business is expected.
Mobility : must be prepared to travel and work away at customer sites. The requirement may be for prolonged periods of time.
Full UK Driving License.
Other information
For this role you must be a UK national or have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of five years and must meet the eligibility to complete a BPSS check.
Being able to obtain Security Clearance is a must.
