About the Role
The Generator Technician will play a key role in supporting NOV’s Portable Power business, delivering high-quality service and technical expertise to our customers.
Based in Great Yarmouth, this position involves hands-on work across installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of generator systems and associated equipment. The majority of work will be UK-based, with occasional opportunities to support projects globally.
Success in this role will depend on strong electrical expertise, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in demanding environments, including offshore and wind farm sites.

Key Responsibilities
7. Deliver installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of generator systems and associated equipment
8. Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment in line with NOV procedures
9. Conduct electrical completion checks, function tests, loop checks, and site acceptance tests
10. Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and P&ID walkdowns
11. Provide after-sales support including inspections, technical advice, and spare parts recommendations
12. Liaise with workshop teams, project teams, clients, and vendors
13. Prepare and complete work orders and technical documentation
14. Participate in on-call rota to provide responsive customer support
15. Ensure all work is carried out safely and in compliance with HSE standards
16. Travel to onshore and offshore sites, including physically demanding environments (., climbing structures)
Qualifications & Skills
Essential:
17. Strong electrical knowledge within installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance environments (including offshore)
18. Ability to interpret and mark up engineering drawings
19. Knowledge of relevant industry standards
20. Willingness and ability to travel offshore and work in physically demanding environments
Desirable:
21. City & Guilds 2382-18 (18th Edition)
22. City & Guilds HV Switching & System Control (0672)
23. COMPEX certification
24. Experience with diesel and gas-driven generators
25. Experience with Cummins, Iveco, or Perkins engines
26. Knowledge of Deep Sea control systems
27. PLC programming skills
