About Our Maritime Team
Haskoning is a market leader in the international maritime design and consultancy sector. In the UK, we have some of our largest teams of maritime technical consultants and engineers. Our maritime staff work closely with colleagues from other specialisms (including Industry & Buildings, Mobility & Infrastructure, Environment, and Water) as part of integrated project teams to deliver projects regionally, nationally, and internationally. We have a significant growth strategy for our UK business, and our prestigious Maritime team in Brighton & Exeter, focusing on commercial and defence-related shipyard design, including dry docks and dock gates, will play an important part in realizing this ambition.
Our UK growth plan aims to further develop our key account relationships and to win new business from a wider client base by offering new services to the market. An important aspect of this growth is around innovation and developing digital tools for the maritime sector. We are investing heavily in innovation and digital technology and forming strategic partnerships to achieve these ambitions.
The Role
An Associate Director has a key management role focused on leading the Maritime Team in our Brighton & Exeter offices and supporting the Director Advisory Group (DAG), responsible for the UK Maritime Advice Group (AG). We are seeking an experienced individual to lead the Maritime team in these locations. A significant part of this role involves guiding the team to meet our strategic ambitions. The majority of the team is based in Brighton, where the opportunity is located. This is a unique and challenging opportunity at an exciting moment in our industry.
Job Responsibilities
* Line Manager to the Maritime UK AG Engineering team in Brighton & Exeter
* Promote and deliver strategic objectives as an effective leader
* Serve as Project Director on allocated projects
* Work with the business development team to develop the order portfolio in Brighton & Exeter
* Provide sound technical and commercial advice to project teams
* Be a member of the AG Management team and jointly responsible for the overall performance of the AG
* Provide strategic leadership to your team
* Guide your team in excellent financial management
* Collaborate with business development and sector directors to grow order and sales portfolio
* Ensure best practices in people management
Qualifications & Experience
You will have a proven ability to lead teams effectively and influence at senior levels. You should demonstrate sound technical and commercial awareness with the following background:
* Relevant degree-level qualification
* Successful track record within civil engineering or infrastructure organizations managing technical teams to deliver projects
* Ability to foster key relationships to position the business
* MICE / MBA or equivalent accreditation supporting complex business development and technical input
* Extensive experience in maritime and infrastructure sectors
* Effective leadership skills
* Ability to influence and collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve strategic goals
Desirable:
* Experience in shipyard or naval base civil design
