Business Analyst [Temporary Cover] at University of Cambridge

Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term until 5 October 2027 or the return of the post holder, whichever is earlier.

An opportunity has become available at University of Cambridge for a Business Analyst with a background in the delivery of digital products, specifically upgrading existing software. This role will primarily be focused on Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.

This role is part of University Information Services (www.uis.cam.ac.uk/about-us). We work collaboratively with colleagues in departments, colleges, and other institutions to provide a range of IT services to support the needs of all users at the University. You will join a growing team of Business Analysts, User Researchers, Product Managers and Designers working closely with our DevOps team focusing on Identity Management systems.

As a Business Analyst your work will enable the University of Cambridge community to make better, informed decisions for digital services, to facilitate world‑leading research and education. You will work with stakeholders and other project team roles to understand and document the current situation, to define business and user needs, and to help design and deliver products and services that meet those needs.

This is a fixed‑term role split between University Information Services' modern offices on the West Cambridge Site and working from home. We offer flexibility of working hours together with a generous pension and holiday allowance.

As a Business Analyst You Will

* Work with stakeholders and other members of the project team to understand and document business needs.
* Document complex current‑state systems and processes, in a way that is easy for non‑technical staff to understand.
* Work on the specification, design and delivery of digital products by selecting and applying appropriate business analysis techniques.
* Document future state systems and processes, recording and prioritising future state requirements.
* Ensure that the products and services delivered meet the needs of the business.

Are you the right candidate?

* Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary delivery team implementing new systems, ideally relating to IAM principles, tools and processes.
* Experience in Scrum / Agile delivery approaches.
* Knowledge of business analysis techniques and methodologies, understanding how best to apply them to different situations.
* Ability to work autonomously and proactively identify and deliver additional artefacts or documents to support the project.
* Experience of liaising with Technical Teams, both internal and external.
* Experience of using Jira/GitLab would be advantageous.
