Redwell Medical Centre is looking for an Administration Clerk/Receptionist to join our friendly office team for 25 hours per week. Hours: Mon 13.00 - 18.00; Tue 13.30 - 18.30; Wed 8.00 - 13.00; Thurs 13.30 - 18.30; Fri 8.00 - 13.00. You may be required to work some Saturday mornings (1 in 4) between 8:00 and 11:00, which will be additional and paid as overtime. You will be expected to be available for overtime to cover annual leave on a rota basis, given up to a month in advance. Occasional sickness cover may also be required.
Responsibilities
* Provide efficient reception and administrative support to patients and visitors.
* Answer the phone, deal with general enquiries, book appointments, and scan records onto the clinical system.
* File records and manage patient notes and correspondence; retrieve and re-file records in strict alphabetical order.
* Handle telephone communications, divert calls, take messages with accurate detail, and ensure prompt delivery.
* Enter patient information into the computer, manage home visit requests, and refer to Duty Doctor when needed.
* Process prescriptions and forms for collection by patients or pharmacies; advise on charges for private services and issue receipts.
* Provide information about practice arrangements to new patients and temporary cover seekers; explain procedures as required.
* Support scanning and documenting processes; ensure recent correspondence is available when patients are seen.
* Maintain patient confidentiality at all times and work flexibly to support the practice.
* Assist with keeping the practice running smoothly during holidays and sickness, including overtime as required.
* Take initiative and use judgment under pressure to ensure urgent cases are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
* Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as requested by Partners or management.
Qualifications & Experience
* GCSE in Maths and English
* AMSPAR Receptionist Qualification
* NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care
* Strong IT skills
* Experience: Previous experience of working in a GP surgery is preferable but full training will be given to the right candidate
Desirable: Educated to GCSE level; GCSE in Maths and English; AMSPAR Receptionist Qualification; NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care.
Our Practice consists of 4 Partners (3 GPs and 1 Advanced Pharmacist Practitioner), 4 Salaried GPs, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Nurse Associate and an HCA. We have a friendly administration team of approx 13 staff led by the Operations Manager, Business Manager, Office Manager and Admin Support Manager. We also work closely with the PCN (Primary Care Network) and use the services of a Pharmacist, Mental Health Worker, Paramedic Home Visiting Service, Physiotherapists and Social Prescribers.
We are an EMIS Web practice with approximately 12,500 registered patients living in the Wellingborough area and surrounding villages.
