Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join NHS Talking Therapies as an Accredited Counsellor, within our West Team in Chichester. You will provide Step 3 short‑term counselling interventions through Person Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE‑CfD), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) or Couples Therapy for Depression (CTfD) within the service. The role is offered at NHS Band 7 for those registered and accredited with the relevant professional body and holding IAPT‑compliant modality training. If you are not yet IAPT‑compliant, this may be offered as an IAPT Development Counsellor role (NHS Band 6). You will be fully supported by our management and clinical leads, sponsored to undertake training in an IAPT approved modality within a year of joining, and surrounded by a friendly, highly competent supportive workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Step 3 short‑term counselling interventions in the chosen modality.
- Work within an IAPT approved pre‑treatment and post‑treatment system and deliver triage assessments.
- Participate in regular supervision, training and quality assurance activities.
- Support the development of the service model and culture of excellence.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Registered and accredited with a relevant professional body (e.g. BACP, UKCP, ACC, NCS, British Psychoanalytic Council).
- Experience treating patients within a time‑limited counselling model and providing triage assessments.
- Have the qualifications detailed in the person specification.
- Applicants holding an NHS Talking Therapies qualification such as IPT, DIT, PCE‑CfD or CTfD will be appointed at ADL Band 7. Those without an additional qualification will be recruited at Band 6 and must be willing to undertake training and certification in an NHS Talking Therapies approved module within 12 months.
- Training in an IAPT approved modality will be funded by the service.
- Will need to demonstrate IAPT compliant modality training and certification within 12 months if starting at Band 6.
- Following achievement of certification, you will move up to Band 7.
