Mental Health Support Worker, Young People
Location: Offerton, Stockport
Contract: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full‑time 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £24,570 – £25,662 per year (dependent on experience)
Driving requirement: Full UK licence, manual only; must be willing to drive service car.
Main Duties of the Job
* Promote independence through education, household tasks, and life‑skills support for young people.
* Update online care records and complete medication administration.
* Maintain general upkeep and tidiness of the home to ensure a homely environment.
* Support self‑administering medication, education, public transport and appointments independently.
* Assist with building positive relationships around food and managing incidents of self‑harm.
* Facilitate transitions to community life, supporting young people as they move on.
* Provide compassionate, patient and resilient support during challenging situations.
* Work flexible shifts including weekends, bank holidays and occasional nights.
Desirable Criteria
* Full UK driving licence.
* NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in care.
* Previous experience working with young people who have mental‑health needs.

* Any formal qualifications or NVQ in care.
Essential Experience
* Previous experience working in a team.

Essential Skills & Abilities
* Good written communication – ability to write basic reports and record information.
* IT skills – ability to use Microsoft Office and write emails.
* Willingness to drive service car.
* Good verbal communication and listening skills.
* Ability to work shift patterns including bank holidays, weekends and occasional nights.
* Maintain professional boundaries, remain calm in emergencies.
