About the Role

Be part of a team delivering the next generation of secure military communications satellites for the UK Ministry of Defence. This work provides resilient, high performance connectivity for the UK, its allies and Defence personnel worldwide, playing a critical role in protecting national security as space becomes more contested and demand for secure data continues to grow.

This is your chance to work on mission-critical technology, develop cutting-edge skills, and build a meaningful career while making a lasting impact on the region and the nation.

The Role:

An exciting opportunity to join a high-performing commercial team as Commercial Officer supporting complex and mission-critical programmes. The role offers the chance to work across the full contract lifecycle, build valuable stakeholder relationships, and contribute to programmes that deliver meaningful impact at both regional and national level.

The individual selected for this role will be responsible for delivering contracts management activities across the full spectrum of commercial actions associated with the provision of supplies and services — from capture and proposal development through contract award and all phases of contract administration.

Working within a collaborative and fast-paced environment, the role will provide commercial guidance and support across multiple business functions including programme management, finance, legal, subcontracts, business development, engineering, human resources, accounting, and compliance. Responsibilities will include managing contract solicitations, supporting capture activities, conducting negotiations, administering contract terms, and ensuring fulfilment of associated contractual obligations.

The successful candidate will act as a key interface with Customer buying representatives, building effective and trusted relationships while supporting wider business goals and objectives. The role will also involve coordinating solutions to contractual issues and Customer concerns related to Company performance, ensuring contractual compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and maintaining adherence to Delegation of Authority and approval requirements.

Additional responsibilities will include supporting internal and external audits, ensuring final contract documentation accurately reflects negotiated agreements, contributing to contract management best practice initiatives, compiling contractual data and reports for Corporate and Business Area requests, and managing multiple complex contracts and stakeholder relationships with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
1. Demonstrate strong knowledge of commercial and contract models and apply them effectively across a range of agreements and programmes
2. Ensure Terms and Conditions compliance, proactively identifying commercial risks and implementing effective solutions and mitigations
3. Independently identify, define, and implement contract revisions and process improvements in accordance with established procedures
4. Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers, providing commercial guidance and support relevant to assigned agreements
5. Organise and maintain accurate contract documentation and records
6. Ensure timely completion of all contract actions and contract close-out activities
7. Keep internal and external stakeholders informed of key issues, risks, and mitigation or resolution activities
8. Ensure effective flow-down of prime contract commercial requirements to suppliers
