Paediatric Allergy Clinical Nurse Specialist
Job Title: Paediatric Allergy Clinical Nurse Specialist (Allergy Assist Service)

Location: Remote, or hybrid with some shifts at our London clinic if preferred
Reports to: Lead Allergy Nurse
Accountable to: Director of Nursing
Salary: £55k-£75k (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: full time, permanent (possibility for job share if part time hours preferred)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Paediatric Allergy Nurse Specialist to join our Allergy Centre of Excellence in a remote-working role supporting the Allergy Assist service. This innovative virtual platform provides timely, expert-led advice, education, and support to children, young people, and families in managing allergic conditions.
The Allergy Centre of Excellence is the first specialist allergy hospital in the UK, founded in 2025 by world renowned specialist consultants Professor Gideon Lack, Professor Adam Fox and Professor George Du Toit. The centre specialises in general allergy care and also provides cutting edge oral food immunotherapy, externally regulated by the CQC.
About the Role
As a key member of our virtual care team, you will provide clinical support through triage, assessment, education, and follow-up, helping families navigate allergic conditions with confidence and clarity. You’ll work autonomously but collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standard of care, contributing to better access, earlier intervention, and improved outcomes for children with allergies.
This nurse-led virtual service will run 8-8 Mon-Fri requiring 11.5 hour shifts (regular rostered days) and some shorter shifts as weekend cover (10am-2pm).
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver expert, family-centred allergy advice and clinical guidance via remote telephone and video consultations in the following areas: food allergy, eczema, asthma, environmental allergy, drug allergy.
• Clinical history taking to and risk assessment.
• Prescribe medications safely and appropriately as an independent nurse prescriber, with an awareness of the challenges of virtual prescribing.
• Triage clinical queries and escalate to the wider multidisciplinary team where appropriate, and refer out to external healthcare professionals where necessary.
• Offer follow-up support and advice to patients and their families after allergy challenges, allergic reactions, or receiving allergy diagnostic test results.
• Experience in interpreting diagnostic allergy test results. Ability to explain what these results will mean for the patient and discuss possible next steps in treatment or management.
• Follow local safeguarding, escalation, and governance procedures
• Care delivered in line with national allergy care pathways and guidance.
• Have an awareness of the psychological impact that allergy can have on the patient and their family, and the importance of interaction with warmth and compassion.
• Offer tailored education that promotes family involvement and leads to consistent participation in the recommended care plan
• Contribute to the further development/expansion of our unique library of digital resources.
• Collaborate with GPs, schools, and local services to ensure joined-up care.
• Contribute to safe and effective remote allergy pathways, identifying areas for service development. Play a pivotal role in both the day-to-day functioning and future development of our unique clinical service, collaborating with the team to enhance service delivery.
• Clinical ‘hands on’ shifts in our London Allergy Hospital supporting with oral food challenges, and oral food immunotherapy in our nurse-led day unit (depending on candidates distance from London, can be factored into job role)
About you

• Registered Children’s Nurse (NMC) with substantial experience in paediatric allergy care.
• Relevant post registration course(s) in Allergy
• Proven ability to work autonomously and make safe, informed clinical decisions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience in virtual settings.
• Confident using digital platforms and electronic health records.
• Committed to continuous professional development and innovation in allergy services.
