We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed GP to join our friendly, well established training Practice based in Fremington, North Devon. We currently have 6 clinical Partners (5 GPs and 1 ANP), and an experienced multi-disciplinary team that look after a patient population of approximately 7,900.

We are keen to offer a flexible working environment that promotes a good work/life balance and are looking for a 6 session a week salaried GP. (Some of these sessions will be covered via the GP ARRS funding).


Main duties of the job

Main purpose of therole: Fremington Medical Centre is seeking anenthusiastic and committed Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportiveprimary care team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated clinicianwho is passionate about delivering high-quality patient-centred care within amodern general practice environment.

Thesuccessful candidate will provide comprehensive primary care services to ourregistered and temporary patients while working collaboratively with the widermultidisciplinary team to maintain the highest standards of clinical care andpatient experience

Thepost-holder will undertake a wide range of clinical and administrativeresponsibilities associated with general practice.

Job responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

* Undertake face-to-face consultations, telephone consultations, triage calls and home visits in accordance with the Practice timetable.
* Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
* Provide appropriate treatment, advice, counselling and health education to patients.
* Respond to medical problems presented by temporary residents where required.
* Develop and implement care plans in line with Practice disease management protocols.
* Support the management of chronic disease conditions and preventative healthcare initiatives.
* Refer patients appropriately for further opinions, investigations and interventions in accordance with Practice protocols.
* Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and appropriate consultation records.
* Prescribe safely and effectively in line with local and national prescribing guidance.
* Process repeat prescriptions, pathology results, clinical correspondence and associated paperwork in a timely manner.
* Participate in the education and training of medical students where appropriate.
* Undertake all duties expected of a GP working within primary care.

Clinical Governance and Quality

* Maintain and update clinical records and databases accurately to support QOF and Enhanced Services requirements.
* Use appropriate clinical coding systems.
* Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement activity and significant event reviews.
* Contribute to practice performance monitoring and reporting requirements.
* Attend practice meetings and other relevant forums as required.
* Support adherence to the Practice complaints procedure and governance framework.
* Maintain current mandatory training including CPR, anaphylaxis and safeguarding competencies.
* Teaching and training of students, doctors and nurses.

Communication and Teamworking

* Work collaboratively with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team.
* Communicate effectively with patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
* Recognise and respond appropriately to patients requiring alternative methods of communication.
* Contribute positively to a supportive and inclusive working environment.
* Attending training, Practice Meetings and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
* Participation in an annual individual performance review, annual GP Appraisal including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development for Revalidation.
* Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work

About You

We are looking for a clinician who:

* Is fully registered with the GMC and included on the GP Register.
* Holds a licence to practise in the UK.
* Demonstrates excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
* Has strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-focused care.
* Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Understands the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding and clinical governance.
* Has knowledge and is competent of using TPP Systm one.
* Is committed to continuing professional development and quality improvement.


Person Specification

* Full GMC registration
* Performers List registration in England
* Conforms to the National Performers List and is able to perform any such service as detailed within Regulation 24 of the National Health Service (Performers Lists) (England)
* Regulations 2013.
* Evidence of current validation
* Evidence of last appraisal
* Eligibility to practice in the UK independently


Qualifications

* Qualified GP
* MRCGP
* Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
* Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at start date


Clinical Knowledge and Skills

* Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP
* Understanding of the importance of evidence-based practice
* Good MS Office and TPP Systm one
* Understanding of the spectrum of clinical governance processes
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral) including recording of accurate clinical notes
* Ability to work within own scope of practice and understand when to refer to GP colleagues
* Experience of triage and the ability to effectively assess and diagnose
* Ability to listen whilst being honest and caring and be both sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations
* Understanding of the local pathology tests processes and the ability to processing the results with advising patients accordingly
* Ability to assess and manage acute deteriorations /exacerbations of long-term conditions
* Understanding of safeguarding adults and children
* Understanding of the importance of evidence-based practice
* Experience of medicines management
* Knowledge of public health issues in the local area
* Understanding and knowledge of QOF and enhanced service
* Knowledge of health promotion strategies


Experience

* Experience of working in a primary care environment
* Experience of providing home visits
* Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
* General understanding of the primary care contract
* Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice
* An appreciation of the NHS landscape and relationship between individual organisations, PCNs and the commissioners
