Role Summary

The post holder will be responsible for the clinical and professional leadership of the team, staff development and clinical governance in relation to the local area and supporting other clinicians regarding patient treatment and management.

He / she will provide highly specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education and advice to patients and their carers which will include a wide range of acute and chronic cases, many having complex presentations. He/ she will be part of an interdependent, multidisciplinary team ensuring that therapy input is integrated into the patients overall care plan.

He / she will plan, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate the Admission Avoidance Service provided for patients in an emergency base/ward settings and be actively involved in the on-going development of the service to avoid an unnecessary admission or a delay in the transfer of the patients care.

We have an exciting secondment opportunity for a full time, enthusiastic and dedicated band 7 Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist to lead our dynamic team of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists in our Admission Avoidance Service. The position is to cover maternity leave until>The post involves working within the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Hospital in Exeter. Supporting the Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit, Frailty Same Day Emergency Care, Same Day Emergency Care, Medical Triage Unit and the Acute Care of the Elderly.

The team will provide assessment and timely intervention working closely with the urgent community response teams, community support and social care to ensure patients can be returned to their place of residence as soon as they are medically fit.

He / she will work as an autonomous practitioner without direct supervision and at times lone working and be flexible to cover shifts across 7 days.

Working Pattern: To be flexible to cover shifts across 7 days (1 in 4 weekends)
