Role Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Substation Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) Field Engineer to join our goal in achieving Net Zero. As a SCADA Field Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the installation and commissioning of new equipment and the support of the SCADA Delivery Project Team. Alongside fault finding on existing systems you will also participate in systems Factory and Site Acceptance Testing, as well as ongoing maintenance and development of the Real Time System (RTS) equipment.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the Transmission network operates to the highest reliability standards through technical management and maintenance of connected SCADA control systems.
* Help deliver the multi-million-pound capital delivery programme on our transmission network, including the commissioning of new SCADA assets.
* Conduct all aspects of field SCADA work, including installation, commissioning, maintenance, outage management, contractor liaison whilst ensuring a safety focus.
* At times, be required to work away from your base location on occasion due to the diverse nature, and sometimes remote locations, of our plant and equipment.
* May be required to take part in an Emergency Standby support rota in the future.
Qualifications
* A qualification in a relevant engineering subject (a minimum HNC level desirable) with experience in configuration and commissioning of SCADA protocols and standards (e.g., DNP3 and IEC61850), RTUs, network communications, control systems, HMIs in a High Voltage substation or Process Plant environment.
* Understanding of the application of cyber security on Operational Technology systems.
* Working knowledge of CDM regulations, and experience in preparation of RAMS / safe systems of work.
* Ability to identify and rectify faults on SCADA and Telecoms equipment.
* A current driving licence as travel away from home is required; job often field based with occasional overnight stays.
Training & Development
Applications will also be considered from engineers with less experience, with a starting salary commensurate with experience levels. Training and development will be provided to ensure progress.
