Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Assistant Logistics Manager to support the coordination and delivery of specialist medical HGV operations. This role is integral to the efficient and compliant transport of medical equipment, ensuring timely and safe delivery in line with regulatory standards that directly affects patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will assist in managing day-to-day logistics operations, fleet maintenance, driver scheduling, customer relations, all within a high-compliance medical transport environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Support:
* Assist in planning, routing, and scheduling deliveries for specialist medical logistics
* Learn the specialist nature of job role.
Compliance & Safety:
* Ensure compliance with company procedures, DVSA and health & safety regulations.
* Conduct vehicle checks, and support audits related to HGV operations and medical transport compliance.
Fleet & Driver Management:
* Assist with HGV maintenance scheduling, breakdown response coordination, and driver allocation.
* Support recruitment, training, and performance monitoring of HGV drivers.
* Inventory & Documentation:
* Support stock control of key items in transit and in logistics hubs.
* Assist custom system implementation
* Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of specialist trailers, including driver documentation and asset check records.
Customer & Stakeholder Liaison:
* Serve as a point of contact for medical clients regarding logistics queries and delivery updates.
* Collaborate with procurement, warehouse, and engineering teams to coordinate logistics needs.
* Be part of On-Call rota for OOH support
Problem Solving & Reporting:
* Investigate delivery issues and propose corrective actions.
* Produce regular reports on KPIs, delivery performance, and compliance metrics.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in logistics, transport, or supply chain, ideally within a healthcare or HGV context.
* Strong knowledge of HGV operations, driver regulations.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.
* Competent in logistics software (TMS/WMS) and Microsoft Office.
* Valid CPC qualification (desirable).
