We are seeking six Aircraft Engineering Apprentices to join Airbus Helicopters Ltd based at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire. Positions are available for both B1.3 Mechanical and B2 Avionic apprenticeship tracks. The apprenticeship will report to the Training and Compliance Manager and the MFTS Maintenance Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
* Provide apprentices with the knowledge, skills and experience required to become a licensed aircraft engineer.
* Complete UK CAA Part 66 B1.3 (Mechanical) or B2 (Avionic) Category B licence, including all required examinations and practical tasks.
* Develop mechanical helicopter maintenance and rectification knowledge and skills, and apply safe systems of work.
* Record and collate evidence of maintenance and rectification activities to meet the engineering apprenticeship standard.
* Operate safely at height, perform manual handling, work with hazardous substances, and work in confined areas.
* Assist in the day‑to‑day running of the hangars, including aircraft movement and general housekeeping.
* Undergo GSAT training, obtain DBS Security Clearance and meet SC clearance eligibility.
* Comply with ITAR/Export Compliance requirements.
* Travel within the UK, to the place of work (Kidlington) and to Kemble airfield for residential training stays.
Requirements
* UK CAA Part 66 Category A licence in aviation maintenance engineering.
* Ability to study and complete the CAA Part 66 aviation engineering module examinations and practical tasks on time.
* English language proficiency and a minimum overall score of 18 points from recent GCSE, BTEC or A‑Level results in English, Maths and Science (Physics).
* Right to remain and work in the UK.
* Availability for residential stays with the training provider at Kemble airfield.
