An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the role of a Development Worker within the with Home Learning Environment and Early Years Team. This is a fixed term contract for 6 months for 2.5 days a week. It could provide an ideal opportunity for someone to work within the team alongside their current role.
This is a great time to be joining the team as we continue to work with the early years sector on developing our local Best Start in Life Strategy. This post is central to supporting the delivery of this with a focus on the development of high quality provision, working across partner agencies to develop practice.
The post holder will be required to work directly with all early years’ providers across the sector to provide advice and support on the Early Years Foundation Stage and the statutory welfare requirements.
The successful candidate must have relevant experience of working directly in this age range and a sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and statutory duties.
To be successful in this post you will need to have excellent communication skills, the ability to build relationships with a range of different providers, have the skills to develop working relationships with a range of partners across Torbay, be able to prioritise and organise your own work and hold a relevant early years qualification
In return you will be supported and welcomed into a team that are committed to working collaboratively with the early years sector to improve outcomes for children, with a particular focus on targeted children and families.
This position is for a fixed term of 6 months from the start date.
This post meets the requirements for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check. This will show spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions which have not been filtered in line with legislation, plus any information held by local Police that is considered relevant to the role.

Skills
Essential:
* Ability to relate to all contacts.
* Ability to work on own initiative and also as part of a team.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Ability to organise and prioritise work with minimum supervision.
* Computer literate – accurate keyboard and ICT skills including attention to detail.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge
Essential:
* Knowledge of Childcare and good practice/sector issues and developments.
* An understanding of the EYFS (or equivalent).
* An understanding of Child Development.
* An understanding of Children’s Rights and Safeguarding.
* Knowledge of Childminding OFSTED registration and inspection process.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Recent experience of working in an early years or childcare setting at a good or | OS in section grade level.
* Developing and maintaining effective administration systems.
* Evidence of having accessed recent high-quality training.
