The Pump Fitter is responsible for the assembly and fitting of magnetically driven sealless pumps, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation in accordance with company and industry standards, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.
1. Assemble, strip, and rebuild mag-drive sealless pumps to specification
2. Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs
3. Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
4. Ensure correct alignment, tolerances, and clearances during assembly
5. Inspect components for wear, corrosion, or damage and recommend replacements
6. Use precision measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, dial indicators,
7. Maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, and documentation
8. Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations
9. Support continuous improvement activities within the workshop
10. Liaise with engineering, quality, and production teams as required
11. Complete job cards, inspection reports, and test documentation accurately
Essential
12. Proven experience as a pump fitter, mechanical fitter, or rotating equipment technician
13. Hands-on experience with sealless pumps (mag-drive or canned motor preferred)
14. Strong mechanical assembly and fault‑finding skills
15. Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
16. Competent use of hand tools and precision measuring instruments
17. Understanding of safe working practices and risk assessments
Desirable
18. Experience in chemical, process, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, or similar industries
19. Knowledge of ATEX or hazardous area equipment
20. Experience with pressure testing and performance testing
21. Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
Qualifications
22. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
23. Forklift, lifting & slinging, or pressure testing certification (advantageous)
