School Crossing Patrol Officer - St John's Green Primary School, Colchester
Permanent, Part Time
£13.00 per hour
Location: Colchester
Working Style: Operational field-based worker
Join Essex County Council's School Crossing Patrol Team as a School Crossing Patrol Officer at St John's Green Primary School, Colchester.
Support schools in the morning and afternoon, ensuring the safety of pedestrians crossing the road to and from school and surrounding areas.
We seek punctual, reliable, approachable individuals who enjoy engaging with the public.
This position involves approximately 7.5 hours per week, including holiday pay. Availability during the 39-week academic year is required, for about 45 minutes in the morning (08:00 - 09:00) and afternoon (14:45 - 15:45), depending on site needs. Uniform, equipment, and training will be provided.
Responsibilities:
* Consider the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility-impaired pedestrians at the crossing.
* Maintain contact with schools attended by crossing users.
* Assess risks at the crossing site regularly, report issues to supervisor.
* Assist in preparing reports on accidents and incidents at the crossing.
* Maintain uniform and equipment in good condition, request replacements as needed.
* Signal clearly to drivers when stopping traffic, ensuring pedestrians cross safely.
