Interim Director of Estates & Facilities
Location: On-site, Northern regions
Contract: 3-6 months initially

We are partnering with a high-profile healthcare organisation to appoint an experienced Interim Director of Estates & Facilities. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a complex estate, while supporting the delivery of strategic and capital programmes.
This assignment requires an individual who can quickly establish credibility, provide visible leadership, and drive performance across estates and facilities functions in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance
• Provide executive-level leadership across estates and facilities services
• Contribute to organisational strategy, aligning estates plans with wider operational and clinical priorities
• Ensure robust governance, risk management, and assurance processes are in place
Operational Delivery
• Oversee the day-to-day management of estates, facilities, and infrastructure services
• Ensure high standards of service delivery, safety, and patient environment are consistently maintained
• Drive performance improvement, cost efficiency, and service optimisation
Compliance & Risk
• Ensure full compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, including HTM and HBN standards
• Act as Responsible Person for key areas of compliance where appropriate
• Lead on audits, inspections, and regulatory engagement
Capital Projects & Programmes
• Provide oversight and leadership across capital projects and estate development programmes
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality and compliance standards
• Support business case development and investment planning
Stakeholder Engagement
• Build strong relationships with executive teams, clinical leaders, and external partners
• Act as a trusted advisor on estates and facilities matters
• Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, fostering a high-performance culture
Person Specification
Experience & Background
• Proven track record operating at Director level within estates and facilities, ideally in healthcare or similarly regulated environments
• Significant experience managing complex estates portfolios and large-scale teams
• Demonstrable success delivering capital programmes and estates strategy
Technical Knowledge
• Strong understanding of healthcare compliance frameworks, including HTMs and HBNs
• Knowledge of statutory compliance, health and safety, and risk management
• Experience with PFI/LIFT arrangements is advantageous

• Credible leader with excellent stakeholder engagement skills
• Able to operate at pace and manage ambiguity in a complex environment
