About the Role
The Senior Release Manager will report to the Head of Quality and will be responsible for leading and influencing the implementation of best practice, improving on effectiveness and efficiency of the release management function.
Key Responsibilities
1. Management of the release schedule and roadmap using Jira
2. Implementation and adherence of best practice initiatives
3. Regular liaison with colleagues, senior managers within IT & Digital to ensure alignment across relevant departments
4. Management of the Release Management process, methods, tools and applications
5. Mentoring and supporting less senior colleagues
6. Lead in communicating complex concepts
7. Attending, contributing, and occasionally leading on ceremonies and other occasional meetings within the department
8. Managing risk across releases
Key Skills & Experiences
Essential:
9. A degree/professional qualification or relevant experience as a Release Manager
10. Proven experience in a release management role
11. Experience in an Agile environment
12. Excellent Communication Skills
13. Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
14. Experience of working across multiple projects and stakeholder groups
Desirable:
15. Experience in a Higher Education or public sector environment
16. ITIL 4 Qualifications
17. Experience with Jira, or similar tools
18. Lean Six Sigma or BPMN certification
19. Understanding of data protection regulations including GDPR
