Job summary
At Ofgem, we play a central role in the fight to shape a smarter, fairer, and greener energy future for Great Britain. We’re now looking for a Senior Strategy Manager to join us and drive forward high-impact projects that will help shape the future of our organisation and the UK energy system. This is a permanent position at the strategic heart of Ofgem, delivering work with visibility across the organisation. You’ll shape cross-cutting strategies, analyse sector-wide challenges, and help steer the regulator’s response to significant questions facing the energy system today. This is a high-agency, fast-paced role that offers real breadth, working directly with senior leaders and external stakeholders across government, industry and academia.
You’ll combine rigorous thinking with creative problem-solving and develop recommendations that will impact Ofgem’s direction for years to come. You’ll need strong analytical skills, excellent judgement, and the ability to build collaborative relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders. A strategic mindset and a keen interest in solving complex policy challenges in a fast-paced, highly visible environment are essential.

Person specification
* Strategic thinking: A track record of translating strategy into delivery, understanding the work of the team and the Directorate in a wider strategic context, and identifying opportunities to develop this knowledge over time.
* Analysis and evidence: Excellent ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative information, identify issues, synthesise diverse sources, develop options and recommendations on a wide range of issues.
* Stakeholder engagement: Track record of building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, with influencing skills to secure desired outcomes.
* Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple, concurrent priorities and projects.
* Communications: Excellent ability to communicate effectively to a range of internal and external audiences, both in writing and presentations, and to convey complex issues clearly and concisely.
* Energy expertise: Knowledge of the energy sector and the understanding of energy transformation needed to reach net zero.

Alongside your salary of £47,895, Ofgem contributes £13,875 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. The benefits include 30 days annual leave after 2 years, training and development opportunities, access to the Civil Service pension, hybrid working (currently 1 day a week in the office, subject to review), flexible working hours and family-friendly policies, and other benefits.
