Overview
We are looking to bring in an Apprentice Finance Assistant. As part of the Accounting Services Team you will use our bespoke system to record purchase orders, invoices and expenses, and assist with cash management and bank reconciliation.
Key Responsibilities
* Distribute supplier invoices for authorisation using our bespoke system
* Code and process supplier invoices ensuring accurate costs are posted to the correct projects
* Process staff expense claims
* Ensure internal controls are adhered to and VAT is correctly identified and accounted for
* Upload credit card costs from financial websites and reconcile supplier statements and expense accounts
* Investigate and resolve discrepancies, working with Client Service teams and suppliers when needed
* Set up new supplier accounts and maintain current ones, including phoning suppliers and checking account details
* Sort and manage emails received by Accounts Payable
* Perform bank reconciliation
* Post direct debt payments
* Learn Sales Ledger after the first year of training
About The Person
We are seeking someone who wants to develop a career within Finance and undertake an apprenticeship. Ideal candidates have some knowledge of MS Excel and Word, a solid foundation in maths, and good communication skills. You should have a keen eye for detail, process transactions accurately and in a timely manner. Experience with Sage 200 and a AAT Level 2 certification is desirable.
Apprenticeship Program
Delivered by BPP, the Level 3 or 4 AAT apprenticeship includes modules such as Applied Management Accounting, Drafting and Interpreting Financial Statements, and Internal Accounting Systems and Controls. Apprentices will complete 20% study time, with online live lectures, self‑study, performance coaching, and assessment through role scenarios and professional discussion.
