Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious person to join Genomic Medicine. The successful applicant will need to be self‑motivated, hard working and capable of managing within a team, together with the ability to work on their own initiative. Good organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workload, and excellent communication and administrative skills are essential, together with a commitment to demonstrate the Trust's Values and Behaviours framework.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure the organisation and delivery of a coordinated and responsive booking & scheduling and clerical service in a manner consistent with Trust and local policies, procedures and protocols.
* Work unsupervised and act independently to manage own workload, referring to the Operational Manager when/where necessary.
* Support and manage, alongside the Operational Manager, the administrative team within the Clinical Genetics Booking Scheduling and Clerical Service ensuring a comprehensive, high‑quality and efficient service to the various medical and non‑medical professionals.
* Directly supervise the clerical team, act as point of contact when the Operational Manager is unavailable, including arranging cover for annual leave and sickness, monitoring sickness absence and undertaking yearly appraisal for the administration team.
* Develop, introduce and maintain systems and processes to guarantee an efficient and effective service that supports the delivery of activity and performance targets.
Qualifications
* Excellent standard of education including GCSE or equivalent A‑C.
* Excellent IT skills.
* ILM qualification or equivalent experience.

* EPIC system training.
* ECDL.

* Accurate data quality skills.
* Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection.
* Ability to work independently, as part of a team and under pressure.
