Locum Consultant Psychiatrist – Male Acute Inpatients
Join Transskribo as a Locum Consultant Psychiatrist to support the male ward team at The Becklin Centre. This role is less than full time, part of a 12‑month locum contract working alongside a full‑time consultant.
Job Summary
We are looking for a compassionate, experienced psychiatrist to provide high quality care to male acute inpatients. The successful candidate will work under the leadership of a senior consultant, contribute to patient safety, clinical governance and support learning disability and mental health services.
Main Duties
Provide medical and psychiatric assessment, care planning, medication review and discharge provision. Support the multidisciplinary team in intervention planning and review. Participate in audit, training and teaching activities.

* 12 month locum contract, part‑time schedule
* Salary: £119,490 – £145,478 per annum (Pro Rata)

Qualifications
* MBChB or equivalent
* Fully registered with GMC and listed on the GMC Specialist Register, or within six months of appointment
* Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (or equivalent)
* Approved Doctor under Section 12
* Clinician/Responsible Clinician status or commitment to achieve within three months of appointment
Person Specification – Essential
* Excellent knowledge within the specialty of adult psychiatry and learning disability
* Strong clinical skills, including assessment, management, and medication optimisation
* Commitment to evidence‑based care, collaborative working and continuous professional development
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and under governance frameworks
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
