Job Description

Learning Support Assistant (1:1 Support)
Location: Brent, London, UK
Job Type: Full Time, Temporary
Start Date: 13 March 2026
Salary: £90–£100 per day

Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates may apply for candidates with strong subject knowledge or previous classroom experience. Pay is in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

Teach Now is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 7 student at a secondary school in Brent.

This is a rewarding role for someone who can build a strong, positive relationship with a student, helping them remain engaged and confident throughout the school day.

The student enjoys PE and physical activity, so the role would suit someone who can use these interests to encourage participation and motivation. The student may occasionally become overwhelmed or dysregulated, so a calm, patient and supportive approach is essential. The position would be particularly suitable for someone who can act as a positive male role model within the school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for a Year 7 student throughout the school day

• Build a trusting relationship and provide consistent encouragement

• Support the student in managing emotions and transitions between activities

• Help maintain engagement in lessons and school activities

• Use the student’s interest in sport and physical activity to support motivation

• Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams to implement support strategies

• Provide feedback on the student’s progress, wellbeing and engagement

Benefits

• Competitive daily pay: £90–£100

• Opportunity to make a genuine difference in a student’s school experience

• Work within a supportive and collaborative school team

• Gain valuable experience supporting students with additional emotional needs

• Ideal experience for those considering careers in education, mentoring or youth work

Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people in a school, youth work or mentoring setting

• A calm, patient and resilient approach when supporting students

• Ability to build strong and positive relationships with young people

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Confidence supporting students who may experience emotional dysregulation

• Experience supporting SEND or SEMH students, or a background in sport, coaching or physical activity, would be advantageous.
