The role:
The Aircraft Workshop Services team is looking for dynamic, proactive Workshop Technicians to work in either the Fleet Support Facility or the Powerplant Support Facility. Your role will involve supporting business demands and providing engineering support to our customers and BA operations. Responsibilities include performing maintenance, repairs, and fabrication under supervision, and supporting on-wing tasks in various locations.
You must possess experience in some of the following skills:
* Sheet Metal fabrication – bending, riveting, welding, heat treating, etc.
* General Workshop/Hand Skills – installing/removing fasteners, drilling, sanding, cleaning, lubricating, painting, etc.
The Fleet Support Facility (FSF) is a bespoke workshop environment where complex repair solutions are fabricated to maintain BA’s aircraft to the highest standards. Are you ready for the challenge?
If successful, you will perform work safely and deliver world-class engineering solutions under supervision. You should have good hand skills, be confident, flexible, a team player, and able to multitask and lead by example within the Aircraft Workshop Services team.
Please note: There are multiple vacancies. Some positions are Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm, while others operate on a 4-on/4-off 12-hour day shift rota.
You must already possess the right to live/work in the UK – this role does not offer visa sponsorship.
What you’ll do:
* Perform and certify defect rectification according to approved maintenance data.
* Component changes from scheduled maintenance inspections.
* Perform maintenance tasks within scope of workshop authorization.
* Conduct visual inspections and surveillance checks as defined within authorizations.
* Issue Certificates of Release to Service.
* Develop skills, share knowledge, and provide coaching.
* Use modern technologies for documentation and transactions.
What you’ll bring:
* Ability to obtain an airside pass for on-wing tasks (desirable).
* Competence in reading and interpreting engineering data and technical publications.
* Ability to write engineering data such as job cards.
* Proactive safety culture awareness.
* Self-motivated with good communication skills.
* Ability to work independently or lead a team.
* Technical decision-making skills.
* Good airmanship.
* Ability to plan and prioritize workload.
Your experience:
* Recognized engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
* NVQ Level 3 or HNC qualification.
* Experience in aircraft maintenance supporting workshop authorization.
* Experience with SAP and production support processes.
* Understanding of internal procedures, quality, health and safety, human factors, and environmental legislation.
* Proficiency with BA engineering IT systems.
* Knowledge of BA employment policies and processes.
