The Service & Team
This role is based within the Adult Social Care Legal Team.
The Role
We are expanding our Adult Social Care legal team to meet increased demand and maintain high standards of service. This bespoke position will work closely with the Council's Charging and Assessment Team to recover unpaid care costs. The role will involve handling a range of debt recovery matters related to Adult Social Care, including issues such as deprivation of assets, the role of a financial Deputy/Lasting Power of Attorney, enforcement of judgments, and limitations on the Council’s powers to charge for meeting assessed eligible care needs.
You will have, or will be supported to develop, a solid working knowledge of relevant Adult Social Care legislation such as the Care Act 2015 and Mental Capacity Act 2005 and associated charging regulations. This position will be subject to a basic criminal record disclosure check.
Working Pattern
This is a full-time role of 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Flexible working hours are available.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
* A qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with experience in litigation, specifically debt recovery processes, and an interest in adult social care law. Experience in Adult Social Care is not necessary as full support and training will be provided to the right applicant.
* Experience of managing varied and complex caseloads.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
* A collaborative approach and a commitment to team success and shared learning.
