Our male adult, acute inpatient wards, provide a high standard of patient-centred evidence-based care for our service users. The Ward is on the Radbourne Unit which has two male acute wards, ECT, recreation and OT HUB space and a suite, along with a perinatal ward.
We are passionate about providing the highest possible standards of care through a multi-disciplinary approach within our Team, which comprises of a Consultant Psychiatrist, Specialist Medic, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP), Clinical Matron, Clinical Leads, Occupational Therapists, Registered Nurses and Nursing Assistants, to enhance leadership support and developmental opportunities across the service division, all of which are supported by our Ward Clerk.
Main duties of the job
·To lead with care and compassion whilst promoting collective leadership within our team and the wider Unit.
·To provide operational management for the Ward.
·Provide strong clinical leadership, ensuring evidence-based practice is delivered to improve the quality of and shape cost effective and responsive services.
·Be responsible for monitoring and ensuring maintenance of standards of care that support safe high-quality practice throughout the -hour period.
·Live the Trust Values promoting a positive image of the Trust to service users, carers, and the community as a whole, and role modelling to the nursing team.
·Provide advice, resources, and support to our Multi-Disciplinary Team.
·Support and promote staff development.
·To have responsibility for aspects of clinical governance within a designated ward or team.
·To ensure compliance and assurance relating to safe and effective use of all resources and ensuring the safety of staff and patients.

·To provide a clear sense of purpose and leadership by being visible and accessible to staff, patients, carers and the public.
·To work collaboratively with the Area Service Manager, Matron, Head of Nursing, and the Senior Multidisciplinary team to develop a vision for staff that ensures a positive, high performing, productive and supportive culture.
·To ensure all levels of staff have a good understanding of the objectives and priorities of the ward area/team and the wider Unit and how these fit into the overarching Service and Trust plans.
·Ensure the establishment and maintenance of good relationships and communication with other directorates in DHCFT, promoting a culture where clinical and other staff are actively involved in decisions on how services are provided, and targets delivered.
·Liaise with external stakeholders including Commissioners and other external agencies and contractors as required.
·Demonstrate operational management skills, implementing change management, project management, service development and transformation, etc.
·Participating in investigations, undertaking the role of Investigation Officer, making recommendations following investigation to influence policy development and change.
·To contribute to steering groups for clinical and operational policy.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
11. •A current registration with a professional body NMC / HCPC / Social Work England
12. •Registered Mental Health (RMN) / Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD) / BSc/Diploma in Occupational Therapy, CQSW / ASW, with relevant post registration experience of working with people with severe mental health.
13. •Evidence of post-qualification professional training (or equivalent experience)
14. •Relevant Mentor qualification
15. •Clinical supervision training
16. •Complaints / investigation training

17. •Evidence and knowledge of managing people and services acquired through training and experience
18. •Previous experience of supervising/managing staff
19. •Demonstrate up to date evidence evidence-based knowledge for clinical practice generally and the chosen speciality.
20. •Demonstrate exposure to and a comprehensive knowledge of Clinical Governance in action (audit, research clinical effectiveness etc)
21. •Demonstrate knowledge of legal and ethical issues relating to clinical practice, including policy and procedure development
22. •Experience of monitoring and measuring service quality
23. •Experience of effective risk management within a service
24. •Experience of implementing service improvement projects
25. •Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in CPA/ Risk Assessment and clinical management.
