As a Registered General Nurse, your main role will be to provide a high standard of individualised nursing care in accordance with agreed policies, through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for individual patients.

Main duties of the job
To perform agreed nursing practice without direct supervision and maintain a high standard of nursing care. Nursing patients with specific A&E problems will be undertaken with guidance and direction from more senior staff, to aid development of specialist knowledge and skills to ensure appropriate nursing care.
Maintain individual patient care plans, evaluating and updating them as necessary to meet the patient's physical, social, and psychological needs. Conduct initial assessments of patients arriving in A&E without a diagnosis, with guidance from senior staff. Recognize the need for prioritization but refer to senior staff for assistance in carrying it out.
Learns the skills of developing a therapeutic relationship with A&E patients in a short time span.
Supervise and participate in keeping accurate and legible records, being aware of the legal implications of these documents (Ref NMCRules) - Date, Time, and Signed.
Maintain effective communication with nursing colleagues and work with other professional groups in all aspects of patient care and the ward environment, knowing how, when, and where to make suggestions for change.
Support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to maintain and develop ward philosophy and objectives.

Job responsibilities
We have flexible bank shifts and long-term placement opportunities for RGN within the Emergency Department at University Hospital Southampton. Pay rates are:
Monday-Friday (days): £19.33/hour
Saturday and Nights: £25.13/hour
Sunday & bank holidays: £30.93/hour

General Duties: Professional Practice:
To provide high-standard patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care. To report patient progress and any changes immediately to senior staff, and to carry out all aspects of nursing care, including treatments and procedures within policies and procedures.
To maintain accurate records, support patients and relatives, ensure the safe custody of belongings, and participate in medication administration, including intravenous drugs, with demonstrated competence.
To ensure equipment is in good working order, report any issues, and support fire safety and confidentiality policies.
Personnel & Professional Development:
To wear the correct uniform, present oneself professionally, adhere to policies, participate in team relationships, attend meetings, and stay updated with clinical developments.
Additional Duties:
To have knowledge of cardiac arrest and Major Incident procedures, assist in department performance, and participate in discharge planning.

* Minimum 6 months' experience in emergency department within the UK in the past 2 years
