Head of Events | Operational & Commercial Lead

We are partnering with one of the UK's most distinguished independent event and brand experience agencies to appoint a Head of Events.

Strategic & Commercial Oversight
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Head of Events is the commercial and operational authority for the Events function. This is a crucial strategic oversight role, overseeing all project delivery.
You will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and strategically developing a large, high-calibre team of
10+ individuals
, including a Project Director and an Account Director. While you will act as the crucial
escalation point
for the delivery team, this role is explicitly strategic.
This leadership position demands both operational mastery and a consultative approach, ensuring the function delivers margin targets while elevating service standards and creative innovation.
Core Leadership Pillars:
* Commercial Accountability (P&L):
Own the financial performance of the operations function, including budget setting and providing strategic oversight of all project financial deliverables, resourcing, and profitability.
* Team & Talent Development:
Directly manage and cultivate a large high-performance culture (10+ people), providing structured mentorship and development pathways for senior production talent.
* Operational Excellence:
Define and embed best-in-class standards for delivery, efficiency, quality assurance, and risk management across the entire project lifecycle.
* Client Strategy:
Act as a senior advisor and maintain key client relationships, fostering long-term partnerships and identifying strategic account growth opportunities.
* Supplier Value:
Build and leverage strategic supplier relationships to secure long-term commercial value and consistency in delivery quality.
We require a senior professional who meets the following mandatory criteria:
* Extensive, demonstrable people management experience leading and developing a team of 10 or more individuals.
* Currently or previously employed within a high-profile events agency environment. (Agency experience is KEY).
* A verifiable track record of driving P&L accountability and consistently exceeding commercial margin targets.
* Exceptional strategic and consultative communication skills, capable of influencing decisions at a senior executive level.
* A well-connected network within the events industry and a commitment to thought leadership.
