Overview

As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will provide a caring, safe, secure and accepting environment that meets the physical, health, social needs and rights of the young people. You will maximise educational opportunities and achievements for the young people by assisting in identifying, establishing and supporting educational provision and contributing to educational reviews. You will undertake direct work designed to meet the young person’s needs as identified within the care plan, enabling them to reach their potential and supporting their significant relationships.


Responsibilities

* Under close supervision you will take responsibility for key working with at least one young person.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of the work undertaken with the young people and complete written reports for planning meetings and statutory reviews as necessary.
* Support young people with their individual personal care needs, including duties such as changing continence pads, assisting with full body and hair wash, and dressing, while also encouraging independence and skill development.
* Undertake a range of domestic duties, including cooking and some cleaning, to a good standard to ensure compliance with health and safety policies and guidelines for young people and staff.
* Demonstrate flexibility to respond to the needs of the unit and young people.
* Show good communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to write reports, and strong organisational and time management abilities.
* Work on your own initiative or as part of a team, taking the lead when required and maintaining open and honest communication.
* If you do not have direct experience of working with children, demonstrate transferable skills relevant to the role.


What you will be part of

Our children’s home in Walkden, Salford provides residential care for Children and Young People with Autism and Learning Difficulties. You will work in a caring home environment with the wider team under the leadership of the Registered Manager, nurturing and supporting the young people with care and support.

Salary, hours and benefits

* The hours are 37.5 per week, on a rota system including weekends. The annual salary is £24,700.00 (£12.67 per hour) with biennial increments. Weekend enhancements are paid at a 25% uplift; sleep-in payments are £100.80 per sleep.
* Annual leave: 27 days plus 8 bank holidays, rising to 30 after 5 years and 33 after 10 years.
