We are looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable nurse with recent relevant post registration SACT experience. The post registration qualifications that are required are Mentorship, and a SACT qualification. As a cancer nurse you will have access to training and education as well as the support of a fantastic, dedicated team. This is a varied and exciting role with the opportunity for professional and personal development within the challenging and rewarding specialty of Oncology/Haematology.
We have 2 Chemotherapy Units at Preston and at Chorley Hospital. You will be required to work across both sites.
Must have current SACT experience.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for experienced nurses in the innovative field of Chemotherapy to become a Chemotherapy Sister/Charge Nurse providing excellent quality care for cancer patients during their Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Assist in the day to day management of the unit
Assist and support the oncology/ chemotherapy team to deliver a comprehensive oncology service in line with local/National standards
Administer Sytemic Anti-Cancer Treatments [SACT] according to local and national guidelines
Triage telephone post treatment patients according to UKON’s Triage Tool

Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
1. Awareness of changes within Nursing practice
2. Knowledge of Clinical Governance and Safeguarding and the relevance to practice
3. Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
4. Expanded clinical role eg IV additives, venepuncture and cannulation
5. Experienced in the delivery of Chemotherapy
Desirable criteria
6. Evidence of clinical competence in area of speciality eg surgery
7. Knowledge of Research and Development
8. Knowledge of ethical issues
9. Knowledge of Leadership and Management
Qualifications and Education
Essential criteria
10. Appropriate NMC Registration
11. Diploma in Nursing
12. NMC recognised Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards following 18 months commencement in post
13. Chemotherapy administration training N59 or equivalent
14. Evidence of continuing education or development for more experienced Band 5 nurses
Desirable criteria
15. Degree
16. Advanced communication skills or willingness to undertake
17. Recognised counselling qualification
18. Non medical prescribing or willingness to undertake
