Overview
The Senior Research Associate will play an essential role within a team of researchers who will deliver a programme of innovative participatory research, focused on the co‑design of a peer‑led intervention for preventing family breakdown in vulnerable groups with unmet mental health needs. The work will take place in Greater Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Responsibilities
* Conduct participatory research methods to co‑design peer‑led interventions.
* Engage with external stakeholders including statutory services, voluntary organisations, academics and clinicians.
* Manage literature searches, data collection and qualitative data analysis.
* Develop relationships with service users, particularly in Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Communities and parents involved with mainstream mental health services.
* Contribute to the wider MHRG and develop own scholarship within the programme of work.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Completed or near completion of a doctoral degree in a related field.
* Strong organisational and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to establish relationships with diverse stakeholders.
* Robust knowledge of literature searching, qualitative data collection, data management and qualitative data analysis methods.
* Prior research experience, especially in participatory or qualitative methods, is highly desirable.
* Self‑directed, committed, with an interest in child welfare, parenting and mental health research.

Full‑time role with an indefinite contract commencing 1 July 2026, subject to external funding. Hybrid working options available with required travel across Greater Lancashire and South Cumbria.
