Overview
The hospital offers an excellent salary with pay enhancements for any overtime, shift and out of hours work that you do. Average 39 hours per week plus overtime opportunities as and when required. As a SHO (Senior House Officer) you will be working closely with other junior doctors and a team of registrars and Consultants within your department. You must maintain liaison with colleagues who are on duty immediately before and after you to ensure adequate communication and continuity of patient care. You will instruct the nursing staff in the care of patients, as well as the professional technical staff in the investigations required for patient care and ensure other departments are fully acquainted with all necessary information.
Salary: The salary is based on the national salary scale as outlined in the Medical and Dental Terms and Conditions.
Professional Development
The post-holder will be required to keep themselves fully up-to-date with their relevant area of practice and be able to demonstrate this to the satisfaction of the Trust. The Trust supports continuing professional development (CPD) as laid down by the Royal College of Physicians and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities. Medical revalidation is the process by which the General Medical Council (GMC) confirms the continuation of a doctor's licence to practise in the UK and provides assurance that licensed doctors are up-to-date and fit to practise.
Professional Study Leave
Professional or study leave is granted for postgraduate purposes approved by the Trust, and includes time off for study, research, teaching, examining, taking examinations, visiting clinics external to the Trust and attending professional conferences. Study leave allowance is a maximum of 30 days in a 3-year period.
Essential Requirements
* IELTS or OET (IELTS overall score 7.5 or OET Grade B) for IMG applicants
* Ability to act as part of a team
* GMC Registration – Essential (guidance available if needed)
* Ability to cope with a varying workload
