Speech and Language Therapist Role
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will assess, diagnose, and provide therapeutic interventions for individuals with communication and swallowing difficulties.
Responsibilities include:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the nature and severity of communication and swallowing issues.
2. Formulate accurate diagnoses based on assessment findings.
3. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for speech, language, and communication challenges.
4. Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to enhance communication skills and support client goals.
5. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, educators, and caregivers for holistic client care.
6. Offer consultation and guidance to families, teachers, and support staff to improve communication outside therapy sessions.
7. Maintain detailed records of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and reports, adhering to professional standards.
8. Participate in community outreach and education to raise awareness about speech and language disorders and promote early intervention.
Requirements:
* Speech and Language Therapy qualification.
* Proven experience in assessing and treating speech, language, and communication disorders.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Empathy, patience, and understanding when working with individuals with communication difficulties.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage caseloads effectively.
* Enhanced DBS check within the last 12 months or willingness to obtain one. Being on the update service may expedite the process.
