We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Gas biased Contracts Manager for a rapidly growing company in East London. Location: East London with occasional travel to head office in Hertfordshire Salary: £65,000 per annum (review after 3-month probation) Package: Company van & fuel card or £300 per month car allowance, plus mileage Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (08:00–17:00). Additional hours may be required to fulfil management duties. Holiday: 33 days per annum including bank holidays (accrued monthly). The Role We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Commercial Gas Contracts Manager to support the operational delivery of M&E service contracts and small project works. This is a hands-on management role requiring strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and the ability to lead from the front. You will work closely with the wider team and senior leadership to grow and develop the Mechanical & Gas department while maintaining and raising standards across the board. Key Responsibilities * Oversee the day-to-day coordination of M&E service contracts and small project works * Provide technical support to engineers, resolving mechanical and electrical queries accurately and efficiently * Develop and manage programmes of work to ensure effective scheduling and minimal disruption * Prepare, review and manage costings for service contracts, remedial works and small projects * Act as the primary client contact, maintaining strong working relationships and ensuring high levels of service delivery * Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards and company procedures * Monitor engineer and subcontractor performance, providing leadership and direction where required * Identify and resolve operational challenges quickly and professionally * Produce progress reports and documentation for clients and senior management Skills & Experience Required * Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and maintenance practices * Commercial Gas qualifications and experience in a similar role * Proven experience managing M&E contracts or service delivery operations * Ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities simultaneously * Experience supervising engineers or operational teams * Commercially aware with experience preparing quotations and costings * Able to interpret drawings, specifications and compliance documentation * Proficient with scheduling software, Excel and CAFM systems * Clear communicator with strong client-facing experience * Calm, solution-focused and decisive under pressure What We’re Looking For A practical, commercially minded manager who can take ownership of contracts, support engineers properly, and build solid client relationships.
